This is one of the best articles on marriage I’ve read… encouraging and insightful and reminds us it’s the little things and we can always keep trying!! Thanks:).

You’re a wise man, Bob. I’m passing your wisdom along to the guy I’ve been married to for nearly 38 years. 😉😂

Love this! And I feel the same way as Hill about V day! :)

You are both incredibly lucky to have each other. What lovely and insightful words.

Yes. This. All of this. The right response really is presence, not logic. I loved the way you framed it!

Well said! I’m married to a non-idiot like yourself. I’m not sure it’s a teachable quality!

Gosh I hope it is! 😂

I'm very lucky to be married to a man who does the little things you list. I'm very happy in my life and my marriage. I'll tell you what though, Loren (husband) has done that spider thing more than once and like a crazy woman (who CAN'T do spiders) I get rather wound up every time. He knows. He tries. Being unsuccessful pretty much causes him to check flight ✈️ prices to anywhere that isn't here.

Thank you, Bob, for a perfect afternoon read.

Hey, he’s trying! And that is something! Happy you’ve got a good one.

Oh, I'm definitely very happy. Just get a bit unhinged around bugs 🐛. Spiders 🕷 in particular. 😲😳

Wise words, Bob. Wives should think about how they measure up to those standards, too. Instead of sending this to my husband of 42 years, I'll be working on remembering to extend these kindnesses to him.

I love the way you tied this back to the “little hearts.”

Maybe marriage works the same way.. The big holidays aren’t what sustain it, it’s the tiny, almost unnoticed moments where someone chooses to show up..

The little things are never really little..
