Enjoyed your first foray into historical fiction! The red bulb blinking on cinematically over the confessional was a masterstroke.
I think my favorite part of the story might have been the God Machine's "failure": Malcolm discovers that it can't always detect the presence of God, not because God isn't there, but because *the bulb filament is broken* --- we are the ones who fail to detect Him.
“ As Dorothy toiled away on her twelve-hour shifts, she liked to imagine her husband might soon be handling one of her bomb casings,”. Bwahahahaha!!!!!

Can't wait to see what you write next!
Thanks you Sebastian!
So good Bob. Love all the historic details and the ending was really touching.
Thanks Lisa! Appreciate you reading.

That part wasn’t supposed to be funny @FLOWSTATE but I’ll take it.
If you have a “Dorothy” in your life this line makes more sense comedywise
